Honestly yeah, I would've preferred if Goku had been the one to beat Freeza. He should've died back in Namek. Goku should've died there aswell, in my opinion, considering his character went downhill after the Freeza Arc. Goku's character going downhill? Goku has character development in Z? Unless you're referring to Frieza. Pretty sure I mentioned the Freeza Arc. Right there, at the end of my post.

Most movie villains are different versions of their canon counterparts. Thus, it seems difficult to compare the two. Nevertheless, I'll try. Cooler is still cooler anyway, Freeza turned into a bloodthirsty maniac after his first form, he was just "kill this, kill that" every minute, except for Goku showed up, then he turned into a maniac again. As Pyrus said, Cooler kept his cool throughout both movies, except for the moments where they were beating him. Freeza also went even crazier when Goku left the fight. Or when Goku decided to spare his life and Freeza, the massive idiot, decided to attack with the laughable amount of small energy he had. At least Cooler had two proper cool endings to his defeat, Freeza got beaten twice and both times it made him look pathetic as hell.
